Gorgeous day at Buntzen Lake for the final Salomon 5 Peaks Series race. Finished 1st in age and 17th O/A in the Enduro 15k in 1:16. Also won the 5 Peaks Series in age with maximun 60 pts.

I've had my Salomon XR Crossmax for 2 weeks now and have been evaluating them on pretty much every type of terrain around the Kelowna area.
I can report without hesitation that Salomon got it right with this shoe. I can't find one thing that I don't like about this hybrid.

My wife Toni and I are very happy to report that we completed the 6 day stage race in Costa Rica. Only 60% finish rate and I was 6th O/A and 4th male in the Expedition category. Toni was 6th O/A and 3rd female in the Adventure category.

Finally at the finish there is an internet cafe. Sorry I haven't posted anything but hope you were able to get info from TCC and Jen Segger. Impossible to describe how tough the race was, especially the heat and humidity...just relentless 24 hours.
Toni and I both finished and I think I placed 4th male and 6th or 7th overall. My toughest day was yesterday, stage 5 at 52.5km. I suffered from heat exhaustion on stage 4 and had to get medical help to try and get me ready for the day. Don't know how I did it and think I was bawling at the finish line This was an awesome experience that made me dig to places inside that I have never been. So proud of Toni for finishing...so many racers dropped out from injury and illness. I got diahrea
on day 2 and still have it. Hope all is well back home. Haven't organized videos or pictures yet but will get some up as soon as possible.

Had the good fortune to run into ultra legend Scott Jurek at Seattle Airport. Had a chance to chat for a while and get some tips on running a successful Coastal Challenge. He was on the same flight to Denver...lives in Boulder now.

10th Victoria marathon finally out of the way and now training hard for the Trans Coastal Challenge Rainforest Run in Costa Rica. The 6 day race is 260k with 35,000' of elevation gain along the Pacific Coast. Sunday did 2 1/2 hrs of steep hill repeats, a total of 1500' of vertical. Bring it on!

Back from 2 weeks camping on the Oregon Coast...fantastic scenery and good weather.
Had a DNS at Frosty Mtn. 50k last day of holidays due to a migraine. Was so looking forward to running it. Next up is Victoria marathon 10-10-10-10. My 10th Victoria marathon on the 10th of Oct. 2010. Tough to beat that irony.

First ever overall win at Fat Dog 100k in Manning Park. Spectacular course but very tough. Took 19 hrs 40 min to complete. Next up is Frosty Mtn. 50k Sept. 18 then Victoria marathon Oct. 10. Still looking for a late fall ultra to fill the gap between Victoria and Costa Rica in Feb. 2011.

Great news from the World Masters T&F meet. I won a silver medal in the 400m final and my brother Ken won a silver medal in the 4x200 relay. Our relay team missed a bronze medal by 2 seconds.

Spent the day doctoring my hamstring enough to get me through the 800m final. Managed a 7th place finish so I'm pleased about that. Going to sign up for the 200m relay and have I the 400m on Friday. This has been a wonderful experience for me...so much awesome talent!!!

Good and bad from the world masters today. Hamstring acting up and slowed a bit in the 200 prelims as I was in 2nd place and assured a qualifying spot. Later learned they cancelled semi's and took only heat winners and next 3 top finishes directly to finals. Protest was launched and I'm told I'm back in the semi's. Hope my leg holds up. Sorry I finished only 8th O/A in the 60m finals. Still happy about my result. Tomorrow is 200m semi and 800m final.

Masters World Indoor Track and Field Championships

Qualified for the final of the 60m today with a time of 8.75 sec. Felt pleased with the first ever track race and first time out of the blocks. Up against incredibly fast athletes from all over the world. Tomorrow run prelims in 800m and 200m and also the 60m final. Not too shabby for an Ultra Runner!

Shirlee Ross and I are hard at work organizing the 2010 version of the Scorched Sole Ultra and a 3 day Ultra camp in support of Ray Zahab's organization i2P. The Scorched Sole is a 25k, 50k, 50mi ultra near Kelowna, BC June 26th. The Ultra camp will run from June 2 thru 5 and will be all inclusive and include a trail marathon a day for 3 days on some of the most beautiful trails in the Okanagan.
