I managed to get in a few events this spring and summer despite my hip and back issues. I did the Okanagan Shuswap Century Ride in Armstrong in May. No record but a respectable 3:22 on my own.
Rode the Axel Merckx 90k pre-fondo in Penticton and also managed to finish the 160k Gran Fondo in July in just under 6 hours. Should have entered the 90k as I felt good to that distance and then suffered to the finish. A week later I completed the toughest Across The Lake Swim ever, fighting a wind, waves and a strong current. I expected around a 45 minute swim and ended up taking 2 hours. The good news is that I am ready for Ironman distance. I feel pretty good as I am a first year swimmer.
Next on my list is the "Ride Through The Rockies" 375k bike ride for Habitat for Humanity out of Cochrane, Alberta. This is the 1st year and is sponsored by Star Building Materials in Calgary.
I'm not back to running yet but with a little more physio and some high tech therapy, I hope to get out on the trails soon.
